I’ve noticed that my kids are way more enthusiastic about helping me cook when I am making one of their favorite meals. Since both my kids are shrimp lovers, they were very eager to help out with this dish. My son loved helping thaw the shrimp and my daughter enjoyed preparing the asparagus. They actually helped every step of the way with this dish.
While your kids are helping out, you can also pause to discuss which FOOD GROUP each ingredient belongs to and share some fun facts about this meal’s featured ingredient: LEMONS.
Here are some creative ways for your kid to be your personal Sous Chef as you make our Lemon & Garlic Shrimp with Asparagus. Simply hover over each image for details. Make sure your little dudes wash their hands before starting!
🍴Shrimp & Sauce🍴
To prepare the shrimp, kids can:
HELP THAW FROZEN SHRIMP
Kids can fill a bowl of cold water and add the frozen shrimp. Have them check the shrimp every so often so they can see the thawing happen.
MEASURE AND ADD OIL & BUTTER TO PAN
Tell kids to squeeze your lemon upside down so the seeds don't fall into the juice.
Kids may enjoy watching the shrimp turn pink.
