Equipment

  • 1 cooking pan or skillet

Ingredients

Blackened Shrimp

  • 1 lb medium raw shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 1 Tbsp Blackened seasoning
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp salted butter optional
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice

Caesar Salad

  • 1-2 heads romaine chopped
  • 1-2 leaves cabbage shredded
  • 2 Tbsp croutons
  • 3-4 Tbsp caesar dressing or more as desired
  • 1/3 cup parmesan cheese shaved, for garnish
  • Black pepper ground

Instructions

  • Season raw shrimp with Blackened seasoning in a bowl.
  • Heat oil in pan on medium heat. Cook shrimp for 2-3 minutes on each side or until fully cooked. Add 1 Tablespoon of butter to shrimp and toss around until melted and incorporated. Remove from heat, squeeze juice of 1/4 lemon over shrimp and stir together.
  • Meanwhile, combine chopped romaine, red cabbage, croutons, dressing and toss together in a large bowl. Sprinkle on shaved cheese.
  • Plate caesar salad topped with blackened shrimp and a hint of ground black pepper, as desired.

Notes

    • Make the perfect bite-sized pieces of romaine by removing the base, making 2-3 cuts lengthwise from the romaine's core, and then slicing horizontally into 1-inch pieces.
    • Keep ingredients from becoming soggy by mixing in dressing and croutons right before serving.
    • Use a Caesar salad kit that includes dressing, cheese, and croutons to save time on chopping and shredding.
    • Avoid overcooking shrimp. Shrimp cook quickly, so it's important to keep a close eye on them. They'll become slightly firmer and turn a pale pink color when they're done.
    • Add more salad toppings as desired! Chopped tomatoes, bacon, avocado or our homemade baked parmesan crisps are all great additions to this blackened shrimp Caesar salad.
