🛒 Ingredients

  • Apples– Any red apple, like Red Delicious or Fuji. Be sure to check the apple for bruises, punctures, and firmness.
  • Peanut butter– Pick your favorite brand! Almond butter, Sunflower butter or even Nutella will also work well. It’s all about creating a sweet, sticky coating to secure the marshmallow teeth to the apple.
  • Marshmallows– Make sure they are mini sized marshmallows. If you don’t have marshmallows, yogurt covered raisins also work well!

Step 1: Use a sharp knife or apple wedge to cut apples into 8 medium-sized wedges. Discard the apple’s core.

Step 2: Spread peanut butter along one edge of each apple slice.

Step 3: Press 5 marshmallows into the peanut butter of half of the apple wedges.

Step 2: Secure the remaining apple wedges with peanut butter on top of the wedges with marshmallows to form a sandwich-like apple smile. Optional: Use extra peanut butter to secure candy eyes to the top of your apple smile.

Apples- Apples are ideal for this snack, but a firm pear or peach will also work well.

Teeth- Feel free to use any small, white square or round snack of choice for your apple’s teeth! Some options:

  • Fruit– yogurt covered raisons, chopped pear, pineapple or bananas
  • Nuts– almonds, chopped pecans, walnuts
  • Seeds– sunflower or pumpkin seeds
  • Candy– after-dinner mints, white chocolate chips, white M&Ms or jelly beans  

Peanut Butter- Swap for Almond butter, Sunflower butter, Jam/jelly, cream cheese or Nutella.

Eyes (optional): If you don’t have candy eyeballs, chocolate chips or even raisons will all work well!

How do I keep apples from browning?

Since sliced apples tend to brown quickly, we recommend soaking them in a mixture of 1 cup of water and 1 tablespoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice for a few minutes before assembling your apple teeth snacks (i.e., before your add the peanut butter and marshmallows).

Can I make this apple teeth snack ahead of time?


Yes, these apple smiles can be made ahead of time! We recommend placing apple teeth on a tray, covered with plastic wrap, and storing in the fridge until ready to serve. Just be sure to treat the apples with a lemon juice/water mixture once they are sliced to prevent browning.

  • 8 tbsp peanut butter
  • 20 mini marshmallows
  • 8 candy eyeballs (optional )
