🛒 Ingredients & Substitutions
Notes on key ingredients are provided below. Please see the recipe card below for a full list of ingredients and quantities.
- Strawberries- We used 4 large strawberries to produce ½ cup chopped strawberries.
- Greek yogurt- Plain Greek yogurt gives this treat its creamy and tangy base and is thick enough to hold the strawberries in place nicely.
- Fruit spread/jelly- Our go-to jelly is Smucker's Strawberry Squeezable Fruit Spread, which adds the perfect amount of sweetness to these frozen Greek yogurt bites.

Kids Cooking Steps
- Chop strawberries! We recommend Curious Chef kid-safe knives for younger kids and this great beginner's chef knife for school-aged children.
- Measure and mix! Invite kids to measure the yogurt and jelly and mix the ingredients together.
- Pour into molds. Let kids put their developing fine-motor skills to good use by filling the heart molds with yogurt!
🍓 Variations and Substitutions
Flavored yogurt- If you're seeking more flavor, choose a flavored yogurt, like vanilla, strawberry, banana or even coconut.
Dairy-free- Keep this snack dairy-free by choosing a non-dairy yogurt, like siggi's plant-based yogurt.
Fruit- Feel free to swap for your favorite fresh fruit! Chopped blueberries, raspberries or blackberries are great alternatives to strawberries for this sweet treat.
Sweetener- Instead of strawberry jelly, you can sweeten your yogurt bites with honey, maple syrup and/or a teaspoon of vanilla extract, for a natural touch. Or, if the strawberries give your yogurt bites enough favor, skip the sweetener altogether.
Extra mix-ins- Add some extra crunch to your frozen yogurt hearts by mixing in granola, chocolate chips, chopped peanuts, sprinkles or even shredded coconut.
Coat in chocolate! To take this treat to the next level, try dipping the frozen yogurt hearts—after removing them from the silicone molds—into melted chocolate! Pop them back in the freezer until the chocolate sets, then enjoy!
✔️ Expert Tips and Tricks
Wash and dry strawberries before chopping. Drying strawberries will prevent the yogurt bites from becoming too watery.
Chop strawberries small enough that they blend evenly with the yogurt.
When spooning the yogurt mixture into the silicone molds, clean up any excess yogurt around the edges to preserve the heart shape of the yogurt bites.
Make in batches as needed. Since we only have one silicone tray with 8 molds, we made our strawberry yogurt bites in two batches.
Taste the yogurt before filling the molds to ensure it’s sweetened to your liking. You can always adjust the amount of jelly.
🍽️ How to Serve these Yogurt Bites
Serve strawberry yogurt bites for breakfast, as a snack, or an after-dinner treat! Or pop some into your kid's lunchbox. These yogurt bites also make great party food at Valentine's Day celebrations, birthdays, baby showers, or bridal showers.
❓FAQ
Yes, you can use dairy-free yogurt alternatives like coconut, almond, or soy yogurt to make these bites completely dairy-free. Just be sure to choose a yogurt that is thick enough to hold its shape in the silicone molds.
Store yogurt bites in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2 months. To prevent them from breaking or getting crushed, use a sturdy container for good protection.
For the best flavor and freshness, we recommend using fresh strawberries. However, you can also use frozen berries—just be sure to thaw and drain them thoroughly before chopping and mixing them into the yogurt.
