This Father's Day footprint art project is incredibly sweet and full of character!  Since our little guy is the hottest pepper we know, this footprint craft made the perfect Father's Day card for my husband!

    Why We Love Footprint Art

Footprint crafts are such a great way to capture a child's development and create special keepsakes. And it usually starts in the hospital when we get those tiny little imprints or stamps of our kids' feet! To continue the tradition, I try and do at least one footprint or handprint art project a year with my kids. And these crafts make wonderful gifts for family members.

This footprint art project was inspired by this adorable Cinco de May craft by Artsy Mamma.  Since my husband loves peppers, I thought I'd turn my kiddos' footprints into adorable green poblano pepper keepsakes! Green footprint of poblano pepper

How to Make Father's Day Footprint Art

This craft is super fun and a tad bit messy, which made it all the more appealing for my kiddos. Kids simply paint the bottom of their foot green, stamp there foot on paper, decorate their pepper, and finish wish a special "spicy" message for dad! You can also personalize the craft by adding your kid's photograph to the poblano pepper footprint.

We ended up stamping my daughter's foot onto several pieces of paper, making poblano pepper footprints for her dad, grandparents and teachers.

Pause to Learn About Poblano Peppers

This footprint art project also provides a great opportunity to share some fun facts about Poblano Peppers that your kids might find interesting!

    • Poblano peppers are thick chili peppers with dark green or red skin.
    • Compared to other peppers, poblano peppers have a milder flavor. However, red poblano peppers tend to be hotter.
    • Poblano peppers originated in Puebla, Mexico and are grown there to this day.
    • There are many health benefits to eating poblano peppers. They contain a cancer-fighting nutrient called capsaicin, which is also what gives them their spicy flavor.
