Gratitude Craft with Words

Thanksgiving is here, and there is no better time to share what we are thankful for! Teach your kids about gratitude with this cute and simple gratitude craft with words. Kids can display their gratitude art or share it with loved ones on turkey day!

👍 Why We Love this Gratitude Craft!

Expression of gratitude! This activity encourages kids to examine what they are thankful for and express their gratitude in a creative and visual way!

Fun for all ages– This was a very simple activity that my kids were able to do almost completely on their own.

Fine motor skills- Our gratitude craft allows kids to put developing writing, tracing and gluing skills to good use.

📝 Instructions 

Step 1: Make a gratitude list. Ask kids to call out things they are grateful for. Make a list of their answers.

Step 2. Choose a word. Have kids pick out one word or phrase. They (or you) can write that word(s) on a piece of construction paper.

Step 3: Decorate the word! Glue small, decorative art supplies (colored pasta shells, buttons, gems, pompoms, etc) onto the letters. Kids can be creative and add pictures or colors to really express what the word means to them!

Display your gratitude craft and/or incorporate it into your Thanksgiving decor!

✔️ Expert Tips and Tricks

  • Leave extra time if using colored shells to dye and dry pasta shells before starting your gratitude craft. Check out our easy guide on how to dye pasta for crafts for instructions.
  • Draw thick words (like bubble letters) to leave room for glue and decorating!
  • Get creative! The sky is the limit when it comes to decorating the gratitude words. Use gems, sequins, pompoms or glitter if you’re feeling fancy. Or kids can go the natural route and use leaves, twigs, dried moss, etc. Whatever you and your kids are into will be awesome!
  • For an added challenge, ask kids to predict and count how many shells or art supplies it takes to decorate each letter of their gratitude word.
